Erik Feig‘s Picturestart and podcast studio Meet Cute are partnering on ice skating audio series Fire & Ice, executive produced by Olympian Nancy Kerrigan.

The project is also executive produced by Lindy Goldstein through her Lindy Goldstein Productions banner and follows skating champions who must navigate romance and rivalry, while trying to achieve their dreams on the Olympic stage.

Chiara Aurelia (Cruel Summer) and Jack Martin (La Brea) lend their voices to the audio series, along with Kennedy Holmes (The Voice), Laura Schein, Clayton Farris, Ashley Eskew, Yuriy Sardarov, Kendall Johnson, Sydney Battle, Kathleen Leary, Jenni Barber, Gabe Greenspan and Scott Golden. The series is directed and produced by Ashley Eskew.

Picturestart, Kerrigan and Goldstein have been developing a feature film adaptation of Fire & Ice written by Ashleigh Powell, the writer known for Disney’s The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. Meet Cute will be an executive producer on that project.

“I was drawn to the story being told by Fire & Ice because it uses figure skating, a sport which has given me so much, as the backdrop for an issue that is so important for girls today: learning how to play hard, fight hard and yet maintain their composure and perspective,” said Kerrigan. “In today’s world, girls can have it all. ‘Fire & Ice’ is a great example of how to achieve that.”

“This is a story about female champions who can compete against each other to be their best in a healthy way and also be friends,” said Goldstein. “It’s such an important message for girls and women to hear, and it’s an honor to partner with Meet Cute, Picturestart, and Olympic Medalist and World Champion, Nancy Kerrigan, to tell this story.”

“We’ve known the Picturestart team for a while, and Fire & Ice was the perfect first show for us to collaborate on, along with Nancy and Lindy,” said Meet Cute CEO and founder Naomi Shah. “What spoke to us was the fierce female best friendship, paired with the sights and sounds of high stakes competition. With its twists and turns, this audio show will keep listeners at the edge of their seats!”

Fire & Ice will debut on podcast services on April 9.
