How The Conners Should End Addressed By Becky Actor Amid Season 7 Reports

Lecy Goranson, who plays Becky in The Conners, shares her perspective on how she believes the show should end, as the hit series nears its conclusion. The ABC sitcom debuted in 2018, as a direct continuation of Roseanne. It focuses on the Conners family, headed by patriarch Dan Conner (John Goodman) in the aftermath of Roseanne’s death, and their struggles with daily life in the suburbs. There were some speculations that season 6 was intended to be the final season. However, The Conners season 7 renewal seems imminent to conclude the series based on new reports.

In an exclusive interview with TVLine, Goranson spoke about her experiences on the show and weighed in on how she believed the series should conclude. The actor seemed indecisive about how Becky’s story should end but eventually settled that the show should conclude with a “continuum energy.” Check out her comments below:

because we’re not really a “put a bow on it” kind of family. I do think that things are going in the right [direction].

I don’t know about, you know, Becky getting married [again]; I don’t know if that’s something that she would want. I think maybe cohabitating with Tyler, being able to time manage and finish school, then go into some kind of mental health profession. I don’t know if [her specialty is] addiction because that might be too close to home.

, there is an ending, I hope that it would be like a continuum energy, rather than a close-up shop energy, so that the audience can envision all of the characters going into the future.”

How Will Becky’s Story End In The Conners?

Will The Conners Season 7 Tie Up The Right Plot Threads?

Becky endured an arduous journey, especially with her battles with addiction, so it would be fitting for her character to get a happy ending. As suggested by Goranson, some possibility could be that Becky might get married again, following the death of her former husband Mark in an accident, or finishing school to pursue a career path.

The Conners has received acclaim for its complex storytelling, and long arcs. This makes it difficult to predict how the show may conclude, particularly with a truncated final season of six episodes. Some of The Conners character arcs may get scraped in the process while other storylines may need to wrap up in season 6, such as Bev’s dementia journey and Harris’ potential exit.

How Becky’s journey might unfold and the direction The Conners could take in season 7 remains to be seen, but it will need to wind down the family’s legacy that spans more than 35 years. As such, the writers will want to do justice to certain storylines and characters, but the Conners have never been a “put a bow on it kind of family.” Despite the season 7 reports, there will be the sense that their stories could continue in other capacities, such as a spinoff.
