Baked beans are a British staple, and we have a tendency to be defensive when we can’t get our favourite variety.
Heinz is the brand of choice for many, but fans are unhappy over the axing of one particular product from the manufacturer’s range.
Five Beanz incorporates haricot, pinto, cannellini, borlotti and red kidney beans in Heinz’s classic tomatoey sauce, and has proven a firm favourite among customers.
Like the regular Beanz, this kind was previously available in pre-portioned ‘snap pots’, but these have now officially been taken off shelves.
On X (formerly Twitter), @iain4546 reached out to the brand, saying: ‘The Heinz 5 bean snap pots appear to have been discontinued. Will they be making a comeback or are they gone for good?’
Heinz then confirmed the change, to which Iain replied: ‘A can is too much for one person which is why I liked the snap pot size.’
On the Asda website, the product’s description reads: ‘Our Five Beanz don’t just taste great, but are nutritious too; high in fibre, high in protein and low in fat, as well as contributing to one of your five a day.’
And reviewers loved them too, with one saying: ‘The taste is amazing and it was perfect option for my breakfast time. It’s so delicious and the package looked great.’

‘So practical.. I can never get through a tin in time, so these are perfect for me,’ said another, while a third added: ‘Tasty, yummy and healthy. Can’t go wrong.’
Thankfully, you’ll still be able to get Heinz Five Beanz in can format – you may just have to find a way to store the extra if you’re used to enjoying them as a single portion.
This isn’t the only product from Heinz to get the chop recently either. Firecracker sauce disappeared from supermarkets at the end of last year, leaving some fans paying well over the odds for the remaining bottles on Amazon.
In its place, the manufacturer released a new Smokey Bacon ketchup last month, garnering reactions ranging from ‘OMG, I hope to it tastes like Frazzles’ to an outright ‘disgusting’.
If you’re looking for a hit of nostalgia at mealtimes, you can also get your hands on Tikka-flavour Heinz Beanz and Heinz Beanz & Sausage Pizzas, which we reintroduced to stores after a hiatus when customers shared how much they missed them online.
