The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has condemned the carting away of food items in warehouses and waylaying of food trucks across the country.

Dr Adamu Abdullahi, the Executive Vice Chairman of FCCPC, made the condemnation in Abuja.

He spoke to newsmen at an event with consumer international, that such actions are dangerous signs for the nation.

Abdullahi, therefore, called for the abolition of trade market associations in order to stabilise the price of food in the markets.

He said that the country needs practical solutions using partnerships, and that the biggest challenge and failure of the government is not introducing anti-competitive policies before integrating the economy.

He explained that FCCPC does not regulate price of market goods but only advises the government on possible solutions to fair pricing and consumer rights.

The Project Specialist, Consumers International, Devine Minayo, called on FCCPC and other authorities to implement a food price monitoring mechanism that can provide great transparency.
